 Ufo 28  One Design

UFO BOATS s.r.l., controls production and guarantees the One Design of all its boats.
It is the sole owner of the plans and moulds and has evolved a detailed, rigid set of Class Rules where everything that is not specifically allowed is forbidden.
No part whatsoever of the UFO may be modified: the hull, which is weighed and rated before leaving the boatyard, is created from a fermale mould; the all-composite appendices are also created in the same way: the deck equipment is listed in detail, with precise reference to the catalogue number.
All this has been done in order to offer the owner the guarantee that his boat is identical to, and as competitive as, his adversaries'boats without any additional financial outlay after purchase.
Although they are simple they certainly have not been neglicted.
The two side bunks, the companionway and the centreboard caber are created frm a female mould and finished with gelcoat.
There are bunks for four peaple, a hatch in the bow to improve ventilation and five water-tight lockers for food and clothing.

COCKPIT

Speecial studies were carried out on the cockpit to create the ample space required for efficient use during regattas, as well as comfortable cruising conditions. Ergonometric seating allows the helmsman and main-trimmer to work whilst sitting comfortably on the wings. The water-tight engine housing is situated in the centre of the cockpit, which means that a single person can stow away the out board motor, even under sail. The mooring ropes and fendrs can also be stored here.

EQUIPMENT
The deck plan is logical and complete; all the mast halyards are re-directed to the cabin top. There are six winches: four in the cockpit for the genoa sheets and the runners, and two on the cabin top.

TRANSPORT
An accurate sudy has led to the almost perfect solution to the problem of transportation. Thanks to its two water-tight wings and the easy and rapid disassembly of the keel and rudder it does not need to be inclined and can, therefore, be set low in its cradle, thus it can be transported by road without contravening the Hghway code. The two water-tight wings can also be disassembled while the boat is in the water, which allows docking in those yacht basins which have set limits to the hull width.
